hi

Hi. This week has passed without much of consequence happening to me. Yesterday was Wilderness Awareness, and it was one of the better days that we've had this year. I worked on making a coal with my bowdrill kit, and we played a game called Odawa Baseball. OB is a mixture of kickball and football; it is nothing like baseball. The outfield team pitches the ball to the kicker of the opposite team. The kicker kicks the ball as far as he can, and he can choose either to run or to wait. If he runs, his objective is to make it to the other side without being tagged by the ball. When he gets to the other endzone, he's safe. However, he only scores when he gets back to the home endzone without being tagged. If he waits, he stands off to the side until a good kick comes from one of his teammates and then runs.
The hard part is that there is only one out in each inning. When somebody on the kicking team is tagged by the ball, everybody on the fielding team is supposed to run back across the home endzone without being tagged by the ball by the other team, who is running into the outfield to grab the ball. If a player of the outfield team is tagged, it switches again. And again. And again. Until nobody is tagged from one of the teams.
Its a lot of fun, especially for me, as I scored two of the three runs that were scored for my team. Without those runs, we would have lost. Instead, we won 3-2.
